My degree project explores the history of Baltimore by mimicking the shift of newspapers from print to web. The Daily Exchange had a brief circulation in Baltimore from 1858 to 1861, I was interested in its liberal pro-immigration and anti-discrimination stance, and thus relatively impartial reflection of life in mid-1800s Baltimore. The printed paper was notable for its adherence to an 8-column grid, which I thought would be helpful as I brought it to screen.
